Soft Tissue Techniques
at Allied Pain Relief Clinics, Inc
At Allied Pain Relief Clinics, Inc, we utilize a range of advanced soft tissue techniques to address musculoskeletal pain, restricted motion, and chronic tension.
Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
IASTM is a manual therapy technique that involves the use of specialized stainless steel or polymer instruments to detect and treat soft tissue restrictions. The instruments allow the clinician to provide controlled microtrauma to affected areas, which helps:
- Break down scar tissue and fascial adhesions
- Stimulate a localized inflammatory response to promote healing
- Improve blood flow and lymphatic drainage
- Restore normal tissue texture and function
IASTM is commonly used for conditions such as tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, chronic muscle strains, and post-surgical scar tissue.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy targets hyperirritable spots within a taut band of skeletal muscle or fascia. These trigger points often cause referred pain patterns, muscle weakness, and limited range of motion. Treatment involves:
- Manual pressure applied directly to the trigger point
- Sustained compression to elicit a “release” response
- Stretching and active muscle engagement to restore full function
Trigger point therapy is particularly effective for headaches, neck and shoulder pain, low back pain, and repetitive strain injuries.
Myofascial Release (MFR)
Myofascial release is a technique focused on relieving restrictions within the fascia—the connective tissue network that surrounds muscles, bones, nerves, and blood vessels. Fascial restrictions can occur due to injury, poor posture, inflammation, or overuse, leading to chronic pain and restricted movement.
This technique involves:
- Sustained, gentle manual pressure to areas of fascial tension
- Slow, controlled movements that allow tissue to elongate naturally
- Restoration of mobility between tissue layers
- Reduction of tension and discomfort throughout the affected region
MFR is particularly useful for chronic pain syndromes, fibromyalgia, postural dysfunction, and surgical recovery.
Clinical Integration
All three techniques—IASTM, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release—are often used together or in sequence to improve soft tissue health, complement chiropractic adjustments, and support long-term functional recovery. Each treatment plan is tailored based on patient history, physical examination, and response to care.
